Alie Mohamed (1966 -)

Almo joined Spier Arts Academy in 2014 as a Mosaic Apprentice. He was raised and still resides in Cape Town.

I like the challenge of constructing a picture using three dimensional pieces of coloured stone, glass or ceramics – then arranging hundreds or thousands of units in such a way that it forms an aesthetically pleasing and long-lasting artwork.

Almo enjoys exploring the diversity of mosaic from being decorative and functional piece of in a garden or swimming pool, to making a statement as an artwork.
